Amazon hit series The Boys and Vought International poke fun at the Emmys by parodying popular TV shows like Mare of Easttown.
Amazon’s hit series The boys laughs at the Emmys by parodying popular TV shows. Based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The boys was created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and showrunner Eric Kripke. The series is a satirical take on a world where superheroes exist and have embraced celebrity status in the same way that actors, athletes, politicians, etc. Its first two seasons follow Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and the eponymous boys as they attempt to expose corrupt “Supes”, Compound V and Vought International.
The boys has been praised for his dark humor, social commentary, and tactful use of violence. It received various accolades and nominations throughout its two seasons, including Emmy nominations for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series in 2020. This year the series was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series and L exceptional writing for a drama series for the Rebecca Sonnenshine episode. , “What I know.” That being said, Season 3 seeks to respond to the precedent set by Season 2 by adding Katia Winter’s Little Nina and Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy to the cast and adapting the NSFW Herogasm script from the comics. A traditional trailer for season 3 of The boys has not yet been released. However, his marketing campaign released short films like The Boys: Vought News Network, parodying our real world industry.
On the eve of the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, The boys parodied Disney + and a handful of popular TV shows. Fictional shows available to stream on Vought + include Her Deepness, Homelander: Brightest Night, Run Yourself Thin, Maeve of Easttown, and Love, Sausage. As announced on Vough InternationalThese original shows have won several “Supie” awards. Check out the series descriptions and their posters below:

In the series, Vought creates films and shows similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the world’s most powerful “heroes”, which, of course, only feeds the superhero cult and fake personality. attributed to each signed Supe. By the end of Season 3, Stormfront (Aya Cash) had been exposed as a Nazi, and Homelander (Starr) was blackmailed into leaving our heroes and his overpowered son alone after the death of Becca Butcher (Shantel VanStanten ). Sadly, it was also revealed that Congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Doumit) had secretly blown heads all season, and, in Season 3, Hughie will be working with her and the Bureau of Superhuman Affairs.
The boys recently completed filming for its third season in Toronto, Ontario. While there is no release date, The boys will likely return in late 2021 or early 2022. The cast consider it bigger and better than Season 2, and while the show doesn’t win at this weekend’s Emmys, that does mean something. It might be some time before an official trailer is released, but based on how much marketing material Amazon has already released, more satirical posts will likely be available soon.
