Brazilian star Everton Soares sent a clear message to Manchester United – saying it would be fine.
Gremio's prospect came back from the bench to score his first international goal in the first Copa America match with a 3-0 win over Bolivia.
The 23-year-old striker has already been very tied to Manchester City but has hinted that he wanted to settle on the red side of the city.
His stunning strike has shown his full pace, skill and finishing ability – and he thinks these features would mean that he is well suited to a leading European club such as the Red Devils.
"I am a player who is always trying to win [of the opposition]"Everton told the Daily Mail after the match.
"Cut from the left with dribbles and good finishes.
"The clubs in Europe also have this style of play and maybe I could integrate it into Manchester United and others."
Everton's impressive season for Gremio has convinced the staff of Brazilian coaches to include him in their Copa America team and he could now be rewarded for his performance in scoring goals from a start against Venezuela in place of David Neres.
City and United would be fighting for his signature, especially with AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, who also want to bring him to Europe.
Figures ranging from 27 to 36 million pounds have been cited in the Brazilian press, although Gremio's president, Romildo Bolzan Junior, has already stated that he would insist that his huge release clause of 71 million pounds is triggered.
It is nevertheless likely that they can be convinced to sell at a much lower price in order to allow Everton to explore his next challenge, whether in the Premier League or elsewhere.
