Breaking Bad movie: Five things to know

A film about Breaking Bad from Sony and the American television channel AMC is in development. Recently, new details about the movie have been revealed. The series, which spawned a series of similar series, called Better Call Saul, featured high school chemistry teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).

After diagnosing an inoperable cancer, Walter enlisted the support of Jesse, whom he knows to be a small drug dealer, for cooking high quality crystal meth, instead of the generally available variety. Walter says, even for himself, that he does it to support his family.

Together, they build an empire using Walter's expertise in chemistry and Jesse's network of drug dealers, collaborating with barons like the unstable Tuco Salamanca at the sweeter Gustavo Fring.

The series was noted for its extremely accurate writing, mbadive build-up in all four seasons (the fifth season being particularly rich in long-time earnings), and outstanding performances, notably from Cranston.

Vince Gilligan will lead

Vince Gilligan, the creator of the series, will produce, write and direct the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That's great because he's been almost exclusively involved in almost every aspect of the series and has made it so compelling.

It will be a sequel

In contrast to Better Call Saul, which is in fact a pre-sequence with some parts telling the story of Bob Odenkirk's Saul Goodman after the Breaking Bad events, the film Breaking Bad will be a sequel.

It will be based on Jesse Pinkman

Jesse Pinkman of Aaron Paul will probably be the main character of the film. He will retrace his adventures after the Breaking Bad finale, when he ran as if the devil was looking for him. He might have ended up with Brock, the young son of his dead girlfriend, Andrea. We could see a more mature version of Jesse, so we probably will not hear more words like "Yo" or "Bitch!" But again, we are talking about Jesse.

No word on Cranston's participation

While Jesse was an important part of Breaking Bad (some say he was the consciousness of the series), it was Walter White who raised the series of a trivial police drama to a truly special event. His transformation from a rather decent and slightly boring old uncle into a frightening monster that would not stop killing innocents and even children if it was necessary to achieve his goal, was a sight to behold. Cranston was undeniably charismatic in the role, using his shaven head, his striped face and his subtle facial expressions to express his descent into nasty malice. It was hard to understand after some of the things he did, but tell us that we've done it since he was the protagonist, is not it? That's what you're supposed to do with the protagonists.

Cranston said that he had heard about the movie and that it actually happens. He would work "absolutely" if Gilligan asked him, but it has not happened yet. The film is in its infancy, there is still hope. Cranston could go back in the spirit of Jesse. Walter White is a specter who will haunt Jesse all his life. It may also be that Walter survived, but that he was caught and that he is in a prison and that he is somehow free and badumes a new identity? Cancer certainly did not kill him the last time we saw him. The possibilities are limitless.

It will be broadcast on AMC and Netflix

The film will be broadcast on AMC and Netflix. This is good news for those of us in India, since we do not have an AMC here. Breaking Bad and Better Saul Call are already available on Netflix India.
