Bissue was captured in an Anas Aremeyaw Anas investigative video
Drone pilots from the anti-galamsey government program appealed to President Akufo-Addo to force state agencies to speed up investigations of Charles Bissue, secretary of the Interministerial Committee on Illegal Mining.
Mr. Bissue was captured and allegedly bribed in an investigation video made by Anas Aremeyaw. Video of Anas Tiger Eye PI on illegal mining in Ghana.
The drone pilots fear that the absence of Mr. Charles Bissue has a negative impact on their work.
According to a statement signed by Mr. Emmanuel Quagraine, drone pilot, the lack of efficiency of the coordination of activities has led to a decline in the general administration of their work.
This situation is attributed to the absence of Mr Charles Bissue, Principal Administrator of the Secretariat.
As a reminder, to reinforce the initiative, the Committee used specialized drones which, among other functions, relay photographic data in real time to enable the team to locate areas of illegal exploitation.
Since the introduction of specialized UAVs, IMCIM has been able to map out illegally exploited areas and identify land to be reclaimed accordingly.
Mr Quagraine stressed the need to speed up the investigations on Mr Bissue, as described in the video of Anas Galamsey.
The statement said that "when Charles Bissue was in office, he was everywhere to ensure the protection of our water plans and our lands. However, a glance at the Ankobra and Pra rivers would give the public the magnitude of the setback suffered by the recurrence of the pollution found previously.
The group said: "We think Anas Aremeyaw Anas has fooled us all with his presentation entitled" Fraud Galamsey ". We, the drone pilots, also report that the resignation of Charles Bissue has affected our work in various districts, because we do not know when we will start our operations or when some of us will be asked to badume their functions because Bissue has already done so in the course of his duties. Now we seem lost, "they lamented.
In the video documentary, Mr. Bissue was captured, apparently accepting money to facilitate the unblocking of a mining company without going through due process.
He is heard in the video asking his subordinates to speed up the processing of the company's documents.
Several other people related to the work of the committee, also known as the Presidential Committee on the Environment and Natural Resources, appear in the video playing a role of "facilitator" for a negotiated fee.
Bissue is currently badisting the police in investigating the case.
Despite Mr. Bissue's refusal of any wrongdoing, Anas Aremeyaw Anas insists that he [Bissue] abused his office.
Anas also asked Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu to investigate the matter.
The government is also interested in the case. The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, told reporters that a thorough investigation would be conducted and that no one would be found guilty would be protected.
"The government has taken note of a Tiger Eye PI documentary suggesting that it has uncovered acts that undermine the fight against illegal small-scale mining. The government will conduct an appropriate investigation into the said tapes using unedited raw images. If it turns out that someone has asked for money or accepted a bribe to break the rules, the necessary steps will be taken, "said Oppong Nkrumah.
