(Reuters) – Lateral flow tests used to detect cases of COVID-19 in Britain as part of the country’s mass testing program may also identify the new mutant variant of the novel coronavirus, Public Health England said on Wednesday .
The agency’s confirmation comes as Britain also approved the use of a COVID-19 self-test kit to detect asymptomatic cases, as it reflects on new restrictions to stem the spread of the variant highly infectious.
Public Health England is leading pandemic response work for the UK government and liaising between the parties to execute health policies.
