British car production halves due to Brexit closure

The uncertainty over the Brexit weighs heavily on the British auto industry. Last month's factory shutdowns, which are expected to minimize the impact of the initially planned outflow for the end of March, led to a sharp drop in auto production.

An industry group reports that only 70,000 vehicles left the country's production lines in April. This is a decrease of 44.5% over the same month of last year.

As the Brexit was delayed at the last moment, some manufacturers, including BMW and Jaguar Land Rover, had no choice but to implement their plans to close their plants.

The Brexit who announces has already seen the monthly production decrease for 11 consecutive months. Last year's investments in this sector also accounted for half of those of the previous year.

The group urges the government to remove a Brexit "without agreement", "immediately and permanently" from the table, in order to avoid further damage.
