Angels: The acclaimed BBC drama “Peaky Blinders”, created by Steven Knight and starring Cillian Murphy, will end after its sixth season.
“Peaky Blinders” focused on Tommy Shelby (Murphy) and the rise and rise of his notorious family, against the backdrop of the working class Birmingham after WWI.
The final season is currently being filmed in the UK.
In a statement to Variety, Knight said the series could end with season six, but that the story of “Peaky Blinders” will continue in “another form.”
“Peaky is back and booming. After the production delay imposed due to the COVID pandemic, we find the family in extreme danger and the stakes have never been higher.
“We think this will be the best show of all and are sure our amazing fans will love it. As the TV series comes to an end, the story will continue in another form,” he said. .
The final season is being written by Knight, while Season 5 pilot Anthony Byrne returns live and Nick Goding will produce.
Executive Producers are Mandabach, Knight, Jamie Glazebrook, David Mason, Byrne and Murphy.
“Peaky Blinders” premiered on BBC Two in 2013 and became a huge worldwide hit after debuting on the streaming platform Netflix. It won the BAFTA Craft Awards and the BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama Series in 2018.
