British High Commissioner in Ghana, Iain Walker and a friend on a bike
It is likely that you will soon see Iain Walker, British High Commissioner in Ghana, and his cycling entourage overtake your town or village if you are on the Paga road network in Accra.
Walker is not part of any cycling competition, but the commissioner plans to travel the 800 kilometers that separate Paga from the capital city to the capital in August this year to raise funds.
In a tweet on Tuesday morning, he spoke of his intention to take advantage of this "tour" to raise funds for the Korle-bu Burns and Plastics Unit.
According to him, the trip will also allow him to "see Ghana from a different angle and meet people from their own communities".
Already, many people and organizations, including NGOs and popular restaurants scattered along the road network, are extending a welcome hand to the British High Commissioner for a stopover.
About the Korle-bu Burns and Plastic Unit
The Burns Intensive Care Unit complex of the National Center for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns (NRPSBC) funded by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) was commissioned last year.
This center of almost $ 2 million, unique in its kind and status in West Africa, was commissioned by President Akufo-Addo who supported him with his salary of November 2018.
The Center is committed to achieving the highest level of excellence in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery, by conscientiously treating all patients with deformities, ulcers, burns, cancers and of various injuries with respect and compbadion and by restoring them to as normal a state as possible.
In August of this year, I plan to move from Paga to Accra. Covering 800 km in one week, I want to see Ghana from a different angle and meet people in their own communities.
I hope to raise funds for Korle Bu Burns & Plastics unit. Will be looking for ideas as the plan grows! pic.twitter.com/hmKSvrXGOr
