The final step in the plan involves ending all legal limits on social contact, meaning nightclubs will be able to reopen after 15 months, on June 21.
However, these measures, which only apply to England, could be postponed if infections increase in the country.
Third lockdown since March 2020
England has been in the throes of a third coronavirus lockdown since January 5, 2021, when cases worsened after a new, more transmissible variant of the virus emerged in the country.
The country has been one of the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, with more than 120,000 deaths.
Much of the hope for the future rests on the widespread deployment of vaccines, with more than 17.5 million people having already received the first of two doses of vaccine. The nation’s goal is to give every adult a vaccine by July 31, AP reports.
