A civil society group, OneGhana Movement, is calling for the immediate release of an unpublished video footage of the interrogation of ModernGhana's editor while he was in their custody.
This should prove that the Council denies that Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri was not tortured as he alleged after his release.
"This is what we believe," The people, "will allow us to express our own judgment and reaffirm our confidence in national security and ethics," said Emily Kanyir Nyuur, convener of the Movement.
Ajarfor and two others were arrested by national security agents on 27 June and charged with theft and unauthorized access to electronic records.
During his detention, the publisher claims to have been subjected to electric shock and other forms of torture by security guards.
"They beat me a lot," he said in an interview with Roland Walker of Joy News.
National security denied the allegations of torture.
"We consider that it is a clear and deliberate attempt by the suspect to discredit the investigations and prosecutions against him … The torture and the maneuvering of suspects are not an integral part of Culture and architecture of the secretariat placed under the administration of President Akufo-Addo. , " the Council said in a statement.

But the OneGhana movement believes that the only refusal of this refusal can be accepted if the public is allowed to have access to video footage of what happened during the detention.

This, in their view, does not exclude the possibility of torture being propagated by some media.
However, they note that, even if suggestive, this does not constitute "an unequivocal diagnosis of reported torture".
The OneGhana movement also wants the president to undertake radical reforms in the protocols and conditions of engagement in all security services in order to respect and uphold the human rights of all citizens.
"Guarantee their right to a lawyer during each interrogation and ensure absolute audiovisual coverage of interrogations. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Ajarfor's electronic gadgets.
"We reiterate the need for an independent investigation into allegations of torture and ask the Ghana Journalists Association and its members not to let go until justice is done." adds the statement.
