Minister Isham said that multidrug-resistant TB and extensively drug-resistant TB, as well as cases of TB infection in HIV patients, are two of the major challenges currently facing the world with regard to tuberculosis.

"Brunei Darussalam is very fortunate to see that the rate of TB and HIV-TB cases in this country is very low," he said.

World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated every year on March 24 to raise public awareness of the health, social and economic consequences of the epidemic.
