Bruno Fernandes has sent a message to Man Utd fans suggesting that the hard-fought point at Liverpool is more valuable than it looks.
The midfielder had a rare day against the defending champions on Sunday, finally replaced late by Mason Greenwood.
Fernandes was far from happy to be replaced, showing his frustration by gesticulating as he left the pitch and entered the stands.
But despite his stroppy explosion, Fernandes seems to have taken the positives from the result.
“Someday when you look back you will see that the best days were the ones you fought,” he wrote on Instagram.
The draw keeps United at the top of the table and ahead of Liverpool, although they are now barely ahead of Man City, who could overtake them if they win their game in hand.
Contrary to Fernandes’ opinion, the general consensus on the United side after the game was that the point was lower than they wanted.
United skipper Harry Maguire said: “We wanted to win, you could see our intention in the second half to get the three points. We will be disappointed but it’s a point.
“It shows how far we have come but we are not getting carried away, there are still improvements to be made.”

Luke Shaw added: “It’s flat in the dressing room, we all think we could have won the game with the two big chances well defined.”
Liverpool had largely dominated possession for much of the game, although United had the best opportunity to win the game when Paul Pogba found space in the box before shooting straight at Alisson.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was quite diplomatic after the game, admitting that his side had not been good enough to breach Liverpool’s Anfield fortress.

“We are also a bit disappointed with the performance, not just the result, because you really have to show up,” said Solskjaer.
“It’s a very good team, today they had injury issues and we didn’t take the opportunity that their injuries gave us.
“But we felt that we grew in the game and got stronger and stronger and were about to win it towards the end.”
