Watson, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, revealed that he was using such products to lessen the rigors of professional golf practice and credits him for keeping him from injury.
"I see Phil Mickelson win at 48, so I have at least eight years left to win some tournaments," Watson told Don Riddell of CNN Sport.
"So for me, it was about creating longevity in the game of golf and spending time with my kids running, the CBD suited me perfectly."

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) removed the compound from its list of banned substances last year but, because of its link with cannabis, it is still stigmatized in sport.
The PGA Tour, on which Watson plays, warned all his players at the beginning of April: "As for all supplements, the PGA Tour warns players who inform them about CBD products that it is not there. There is no guarantee that a supplement contains what is listed on the label, so there is a risk that a supplement may contain a prohibited substance. "
However, Watson is confident that its use of the product fits perfectly within the legal framework of the game.
"Doctors were involved in doing my research and seeing which companies were making a safe product for me and my family – that was obvious," said the PGA Tour winner 12 times.
"There are no bad things in there, there are no chemicals that could spoil you or make you fail a drug test, we trust some companies."

In December, US President Donald Trump enacted the Farm Bill, which legalized the production of hemp, which contains high concentrations of cannabidiol, or CBD.
The product is marketed for everything from pain relief and inflammation to reducing stress and anxiety.
However, the Food & Drug Administration has still not decided how to regulate CBD products. In a recent interview with the Brookings Institution, outgoing FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said it may be several years before the agency fully legalizes CBD for its use in food products and dietary supplements.
Until now, little clinical research has been conducted to prove CBD's effectiveness. Last year, the FDA approved the first drug containing CBD for the treatment of some forms of epilepsy, but no other drug has been approved since.
