Olusegun Bamgbose, the national coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to hand over self-determination activists Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho to the governors of the South.
Nnamdi Kanu is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, after being arrested a few weeks ago in Kenya and returned to Nigeria while Sunday Gboho was arrested Monday evening in the neighboring Republic of Benin and is currently in detention in Cotonou. .
Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, while Sunday Igboho is one of the main defenders of the Republic of Oduduwa.

Bamgbose noted that the nation is undoubtedly going through a very critical moment in its political history and that the future seems unpredictable, warning that stakeholders must exercise extreme caution to avoid disintegration as the unity of Nigeria does not has never been so weak.
“The truth remains that in any part of the world, where there is unfair treatment, injustice and inequality, unrest becomes inevitable and legitimate. You can’t push someone and tell them where to fall, ”the lead lawyer and 2023 presidential candidate noted.
“We cannot claim to be one nation when there is obvious discrimination in terms of clan or tribe. Restlessness is a natural reflection of what is going on in society.
“The Igbos have always complained of being highly marginalized in the scheme of things, while the Yorubas are unhappy that the Fulani shepherds kidnap their people, rape their wives, destroy their farms, kill them, the million-dollar question. nairas begging for answers is, how did President Buhari approach these critical questions?
“President Buhari cannot claim to be the father of the nation when he will treat some as sacred cows and others as sacrificial lambs.
“Squeezing the agitators may not give long-term positive results. The problems must be solved. While I will never support any form of armed struggle, President Buhari is expected to proactively address the issues raised by the agitators.
“Imprisoning agitators will never end the unrest, but will intensify it. I will, however, expect the governors of the South to rise to the occasion and secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo as soon as possible.
“This case can be resolved in 8 weeks. President Buhari should also be prepared to hand them over to the governors of the South. Our nation needs healing, not victimization.
“Buhari’s government will be in a worse situation and will be in the international community’s black book if it decides to mismanage this affair.
“President Buhari should dialogue with the governors of the South and release the two agitators to them. I believe this will prove to all Nigerians and the international community that he is indeed a leader to be reckoned with.
“He should also examine their grievances and deal with them impartially. It won’t be a bad idea if President Buhari meets Kanu, Igboho and the governors of the South at the Presidential Villa to resolve this issue once and for all. I wish our president the best.
