Cryptosporidium outbreaks in the United States have increased on average by 13% per year between 2009 and 2017, according to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report describes 444 outbreaks resulting in 7,465 deaths, 287 hospitalizations and one death. 35% of epidemics were related to treated bathing water in places such as swimming pools and water games, and 13% to contact with infected people in daycare.
