Of the 118 communities in the southern district of Builsa in the Far East, 26 have been declared free from open defecation, while seven others have been declared.

In 2017, the district of Builsa South was ranked 6th of the 15 districts of the region on the regional ranking.

Mr. Daniel Kwame Gariba, District Director (DCE), who disclosed this information at the first 2019 General Assembly in Fumbisi, emphasized that good health and good hygiene were essential to achieve the development goals sustainable and that the Assembly was striving to improve sanitation in the neighborhood.

The general meeting, which was to consider the projects undertaken by the district badembly during the period, was chaired by Assembly President Richard Ajuik Awondadek, and met with Clement Apaak, MP for the region. members of the Assembly of the various electoral sectors and heads of departments.

The WFD informed the Assembly that, with the support of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), it had provided 175 newly upgraded toilet facilities, called Digni Loo. in nine communities, including Uwasi-Pion, Uwasi-Golluk, Dalaasa, Uwasi-Chansa, Mosidema, Logzirinsa, Yedema-Yogsa, Gobsa-Naagandem and Uwasi-Gamsa. In addition, teachers from five district primary schools, such as Doninga, Wupiensa, Bachongsa, Piisa-Gobsa and Gbedemblisa primary schools, would also benefit from the same project, he added. He commended the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for badisting the Assembly in identifying and building the capacity of 30 artisans and 150 community technical service providers to provide technical services for children. rural sanitation to selected communities in the district.

The WFD also announced that an agreement had been reached between the CWSA and the CWSA to reorganize the water supply system of the small town of Fumbisi, while the Ministry of the Initiative of Special Development was building six solar-powered boreholes and ten boreholes in underserved communities to increase access to drinking water.

Mr. Gariba noted that access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities, badociated with the disease reduction interventions implemented by the Assembly , had significantly contributed to the improvement of health care services in the region.

He called on young people to take advantage of the various agricultural opportunities offered by the government under the presidency of Nana Addo to embark on agriculture and improve their livelihoods.
