Builsa South communities have declared ODF

Fumbisi (EU), May 27, GNA – out of 118
communities in the southern district of Builsa, in the Upper East region, 26 were
Open Defecation Free (ODP) declared while seven others were triggered for
declaration.

In 2017, the southern district of Builsa was
ranked 6th out of 15 districts in the region on the league table.

Mr. Daniel Kwame Gariba, District Chief
Executive (DCE), who made the disclosure to the first general meeting
2019 in Fumbisi, emphasized that good health and good hygiene were essential to achieve
the Sustainable Development Goals and the Assembly sought to improve the
sanitation in the neighborhood.

Mosidema, Logzirinsa, Yedema-Yogsa, Gobsa-Naagandem and Uwasi-Gamsa.

In addition, teachers from five elementary schools
in districts such as Doninga, Wupiensa, Bachongsa, Piisa-Gobsa and
Gbedemblisa primary schools would also benefit from the same project, he said.

He congratulated the United Nations Children's Organization
Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to badist the Assembly in identifying and building the
capacity of 30 artisans and 150 Community technical suppliers to render
technical services on rural sanitation to selected communities in the district.

The WFD has also announced the conclusion of an
between the Assembly and the CWSA to reorganize the small town of Fumbisi
Water system, while the initiative of the Ministry of Special Development was
construction of six solar-powered boreholes and 10 boreholes in underserved areas
local communities to increase access to safe drinking water.

Mr. Gariba noted that access to water,
