But a double from Ishak Belfodil and a Pavel Kaderabek goal between the two saved an unlikely draw for Hoffenheim.
The draw for Dortmund came after a midweek outing of the German Cup on penalties against Werder Bremen in which they conceded a tying goal in the 119th minute. They also made their last league game, 1-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt. Dortmund have at least temporarily extended their lead to eight points because home-time record of second-placed Borussia Moenchengladbach was a 3-0 defeat against Hertha Berlin.
The Bayern Munich champions could move within five points of Dortmund with a win against Schalke later on Saturday.

"We have a point and a point is a point, even if it's annoying after being led 3-0," he added, refusing to qualify him as a setback in the title race. Florian Grillitsch, of Hoffenheim, said the result was a reminder to never give up. "It shows that you should never stop believing," he said.
