The Cabinet approved a 55 million euro facility for the rehabilitation of 100 km road infrastructure in some cities of Kumasi, capital of the Ashanti region..

according to For the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, there is a credit agreement between the Government of Ghana and Deutsche Bank for the auxiliary infrastructure of Kumasi roads.

At a press conference held on Sunday, Oppong Nkrumah added that there was a commercial agreement between the Ministry of Roads and Road and a construction company, contracta UK construction for the implementation of the project.

The scope of work to be undertaken under the projects includes the rehabilitation of roads in the following cities:

"After consideration and approval by Parliament, the project should be completed within twenty-four months from the date of commencement of the work.

"The rehabilitation of these roads in the cities and towns already mentioned is in line with the government's recognition of the quality of road infrastructure as an essential factor for rapid socio-economic development.

"We hope that the completion of these projects will reduce and improve waiting times and travel in the metropolis of Kumasi, which will lead to poverty reduction and increased development of our beloved country".
