Caesarean section is very risky for mothers and babies in low- and middle-income countries

Women who undergo caesarean section in low- and middle-income countries are at about 100 times more likely to die than women who undergo the procedure in the United Kingdom, a systematic badysis and meta-badysis published in the United States. Lancet shows.1

The badysis also revealed that one-third of all babies born through this procedure do not survive in some parts of the world.

The badysis included 196 studies, covering 12 million pregnancies in 67 low and middle countries, and found that the risk of death for women undergoing caesarean section in these countries was 7.6 per 1000 procedures – about 100 times more…
