Moise Kean, a Juventus teenager, appears to have suffered racist violence after scoring a goal late in the game to give the Turin side a 2-0 win at Cagliari in Serie A on Tuesday.

Kean, born in Italy to Ivorian parents, handed Rodrigo Bentancur's center five minutes from the end, then turned to the Cagliari fans behind the goal and crossed his arms.

In response, supporters of Cagliari made the noise described by the Italian media as "buu"and is considered a racist insult in Italian football, and monkey sounds could also be heard in the crowd.

Shortly after the goal, French midfielder Blaise Matuidi of Juve protested furiously to the referee.

Matuidi complained last year of being a victim of racist abuse in the same stadium and Cagliari later apologized.

The game was interrupted for about three minutes and a warning was broadcast to the crowd – the first step in the so-called three-step procedure that led the teams to leave the field.

The game resumed amid more hisses and the referee sounded the final whistle shortly after.

Defender Leonardo Bonucci opened the scoring with a high header from a corner in the 22nd minute.

The victory lifted Juventus to 81 points in 30 games with Napoli, second in the standings, 18 points ahead of their match at Empoli on Wednesday.

Juventus were again denied Cristiano Ronaldo who is recovering from a thigh injury he suffered while playing in Portugal a week ago.
