Congratulations go out to “Outlander” star Caitríona Balfe and her husband Tony McGill.
The Irish actress announced on Wednesday that the couple are quietly welcoming their first child together, a baby boy.
“I’ve been away from social media for quite some time as I took the time to cook this little human,” Balfe, 41, captioned a cute snap on Instagram holding her newborn baby’s hand.
“We are so grateful for this little soul… that he chose us as his parents. I am already in awe of him and I can’t help but watch and wonder about all the possibilities of who he will become, where he will go and what he will do in the great adventure of his life.
She did not reveal the baby’s name or date of birth, but she used the revelation to promote various nonprofits including World Child Cancer, Choose Love, Unicef, and the United Nations Agency for the refugees.
“Right now he seems so small and fragile and I constantly think about how grateful I am to live in a place, at a time when he was born in peace and security and yet at the same time I see so much in the world right now who don’t have the same privileges and opportunities… who were born into famine or war and how unfair it is that the same security is not there for all children.
She added: “Here in the west we have so much going on, we are so lucky and so if you would like to join me in supporting one of the wonderful charities that need help trying to give those who are forgotten dignity and hope, we can offer peace, security and opportunity to a few more children… @wchildcancer @chooselove @unicef @refugees 💙. ”
This is the first child of Balfe and her Scottish music producer husband, 45.
The couple married in August 2019.
“The only thing I would say about my marriage is that I managed to get it to spend a weekend during production,” she said with a laugh in a February 2020 interview with Inquirer. .net. “The best part was that I had my family and very close friends there.
“I just want to be happy in my life. I want to stay sane. I am lucky to have a job that I love. It is very important that your career cannot be your only thing. So, I feel lucky to have also found someone who makes me very happy. As long as I can make these two things go well, then I’ll be fine. “
