NORTH CAROLINA (FOX Carolina) – Henry Avocado Corporation is voluntarily recalling whole avocados grown in California and sold in bulk in retail stores as they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Henry Avocado issues this voluntary recall as a precaution, due to positive test results on environmental samples taken during a routine inspection by the government in its California packing center. No cases of illness badociated with this booster have been reported.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious, sometimes fatal, infections in young children, frail and elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy individuals only suffer from short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria the infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The recalled products – California-grown clbadic and organic avocado – were packaged at Henry Avocado Packaging Center in California and distributed in Arizona, California, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

All shipments from packaging facilities are subject to recall (Henry Avocado only started packing at the end of January 2019). Avocados imported from Mexico and distributed by Henry Avocado are not subject to recall and may continue to be sold and consumed.

Henry Avocado contacts all concerned customers to confirm that the recalled products are immediately removed from store shelves. For conventional retail products, consumers can identify recalled products with "Bravocado" stickers.

Henry Avocado organic products do not carry the label "Bravocado" on the sticker. Instead, these products are labeled "organic" and include "California" on the sticker. Retailers can identify Henry Avocado organic products using the barcode on the stickers.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled lawyers are urged not to consume them, but to discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers who have questions can contact Henry Avocado at (760) 745-6632 ext. 132 or visit www.henryavocado.com/media
