A group called "Ghana People's Youth for Peace" appealed to President Akufo-Addo to empower the various security agencies to deal with the activities of self-defense groups.

The group, while congratulating the president for condemning the acts of self-defense groups, urged him to go beyond public statements and put resources at the disposal of the security organs to limit the growing threat.

He also said he is ready to help the government deal with any group of people whose actions pose a threat to the security of this country.

Below the statement

GYPA congratulates the president

GYPA (Ghana Youth for Peace) congratulated President Nana Akufo-Addo for declaring war on militia groups affiliated with political parties.

Lately, everyone is talking about how vigilantism has invaded our political space. Ironically, both parties understood the need to remove these groups to allow Ghana to enjoy a lasting peace.

We congratulate the President on his bold decision. We will call on him to empower the security agencies to be tough on those who flirt with militant groups. The speech must not remain a political rhetoric!

The latest sequence of violence has sparked serious debate across the country. The GYPA want more to be done to preserve the peace we enjoy now. What both parties, NPP and NDC, should understand is that without peace and stability, they can not govern this country.

As good citizens, we should all speak out against the current impunity that the country is experiencing. We implore everyone to be law-abiding.

"There has never been a good war or bad peace." GYPA is always ready to help the president to maintain peace in our beloved country. Long live Ghana, long live GYPA
