Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea decided that his future would be at Stamford Bridge after being convinced by his new director, Frank Lampard.
The 18 year old English winger was the subject of an offer from Bayern Munich in January, worth £ 35 million, and another offer this summer . It was feared that the Bundesliga champions would increase their interest in Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson-Odoi would have been tempted by the interest of Germany while he was not sure of his future in Chelsea under former boss Maurizio Sarri.
At one year of the current teenage contract, Chelsea risked losing him for a relatively modest salary.
Lampard, legend of Chelsea, convinced Hudson-Odoi of his importance for the team, and is about to sign a five-year contract with his childhood club for an exceptional salary increase.
This deal should bring him £ 100,000 a week – but according to the Daily Mail, it could reach £ 10m a year if it continues to make good progress.
Lampard said earlier this month that Hudson-Odoi would play a "central" role in his plans for next season.
He said: "I've seen Callum move to the academy.I think he's a fantastic talent.I want him to stay.I know the club wants that. ;he stays.
"For me, considering his age and his rank among the best Premier League teams, one of the best in the world, he will play a central role for us on the field.
"This is the opportunity that presents itself to him now, from my place. That's what I'm going to talk to him about.
Lampard added, "When I say that he will play a central role, there are things he will want to improve as a young player and by natural development.
"Then I'm not going to say things that are pie in the sky. I'm not going to say, "Everything is going as you wish."
"But knowing his talent, he can be at the center of this team – and in the center of England.
"I want to work with him, to move him forward. I want to improve him as a player and he can show here, at Chelsea, that he will be an absolute world clbad player.
"I really believe that."
