Students lamented having to hand over papers that they were not allowed to write
The management of Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has agreed to allow students who owe less than 250 cedis to participate in the end-of-semester exam.
This decision follows the demonstration of some students from Tesano University in Accra against the school authorities.
The protest was intended to protest the management's decision to prevent them from attending their end-of-semester exams due to unpaid fees.
But the president of the SRC University, Emmanuel Owusu Twum, told Citi News that calm had returned to the school after deliberations with the authorities.
"Now, students who need GHC250 and less will be allowed to write the papers. And for those who have not been allowed to write because of the problem, we give them the opportunity to write during the replay period. Calm has returned to campus and everyone is calm now. We arrived at a solution. I would also like to thank the management for listening to and sitting at the CBC to handle the problem. "
GTUC students protest after being barred from taking exams beyond registration fees
Some of the students would have been chased out of the examination room because of as small a debt as possible.
The students added that the authorities did not warn the authorities before making their decision.
"Some of us have been fired from the examination room for having 20 pesewas, 30 pesewas, 80 pesewas, 2cedis, 10cedis," said one of the protesters.
Another protester said that he felt aggrieved by the school because it lacked laboratories, power outlets in operation and a wi-fi service, while it was a school of technology.
"A whole school of technology, we do not have a laboratory, the cards do not work properly, our Internet connection does not work properly. For two years we have not practiced what we are taught. We want them to come out and tell us why some of these things are not working. We have to learn in the dark in some clbadrooms because there is no power, "he said.
The students lamented the fact that they would be obliged to hand over the documents that they were not allowed to write at a higher cost.
