Information available for YEN.com.gh indicates that Citi TV's collaboration with the Ghana Police Service to fight deviant drivers through its "War Against Indiscipline" (WAI) campaign has benefited the state in the amount of 258,000.00 GH ¢

The amount was counted against 499 drivers arrested for breaking the rules of the road on different roads in Accra.

A statement from the police said: "The fiscal year, which began on June 17, 2019, has hitherto covered specific routes reserved for careless driving inside and outside Accra in order to to ensure mental health and safety. Among these roads are Spintex, the diversion of Legon, Dawhenya, Pokuase-Amasaman, Kasoa-Weija, Adenta-Dodowa, among others ".

According to the police, most drivers were arrested for offenses such as: Driving on the roadside, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving without a license, using a motor vehicle without a certificate of road, use of a motor vehicle without insurance policy, misuse of the siren and misuse of the trade

Police said most of the arrested drivers were driving private vehicles, including "vans, government vehicles and SUVs".

"This exercise will continue and motorists must again comply strictly with the Highway Code at all times to ensure safety on the roads,"The police said.

In addition, former President John Dramani Mahama said he regretted the fate of cocoa farmers under the regime of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) in power.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo is wrong to stop providing free fertilizer to cocoa farmers and to let the fertilizers expire instead.

He said that the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) government had implemented good policies for cocoa farmers, but that the current government had undone all that.
