President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has urged the senior national team, the Black Stars, to see this year's African Nations Cup (AFCON), which will be held in Egypt, as a "Year of Return" for the coveted trophy.
According to President Akufo Addo, this year's tournament would give the team the opportunity to write its name in gold and be among the country's greatest footballers, adding that adequate resources had been put in place to ensure its success.
He let it know in Accra at the Jubilee House Banquet Hall during a ceremony to bid farewell to the team as it prepares to leave Ghana for Dubai on Sunday. He promised to attend the opening match of the Stars against Benin on June 25th.

Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, badured the nation that all necessary arrangements had been made for the team to distribute the trophy.
He advised players to master their individual ego for team success, adding that teamwork and commitment were vital to victory.
Coach Kwesi Appiah thanked the president on behalf of his technical team for his tremendous support and badured the president of his team's preparation for the tournament.
