Ekuban was the only player to fail with his kick in the shootout
Tunisia defeated Ghana on penalties to set up an African Nations Cup quarter-final with Madagascar.
Goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha was the hero. He participated in the shootout and saved Caleb Ekuban's penalty.
Tunisia was two seconds away from the victory in 90 minutes, but his replacement, Rami Bedoui, made his first contact with his own net.
They led to Ismailia thanks to the goal of Taha Ybadine Khenissi on the center of Wajdi Kechrida.
Leeds striker Ekuban was the only player to fail with his free kick in the shootout, Ferjani Sbadi scoring the winning shot.
Tunisia, which won the African Cup of Nations for the last time in 2004, is now facing a surprise package: Madagascar ranked 108th in the world on Thursday.
