Can Ebola be eliminated? | Health

This is the largest epidemic of Ebola ever recorded after the 2014 outbreak in West Africa.

And the spread of the virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo has reached a critical point.

The World Health Organization has declared that this new crisis is a public health emergency of international concern.

This rare gesture could attract the attention of the international community and encourage an increase in aid.

Nearly one year into the crisis, more than 2,500 people were infected and at least 1,600 died.

The first patient to have been diagnosed with Ebola in the largest city of eastern DRC, Goma, on the border with Rwanda, died earlier this week, raising fears that the virus may spreads beyond the borders of the country.

Given the upsurge of the disease, have enough been done to stop it?
