If you want to remove a USB drive from your computer, you must use the "Safely Remove Hardware" option to prevent data loss. That was at least the recommendation of the Microsoft operating system developer.
With the update for Windows 10 that changes now. The new standard in Windows 10 version 1809 is called "fast delete".
If data carriers are not written with data, they can now be unplugged without fear of data loss. The whole thing has a problem, as explained in the video above.
