The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) renewed Friday its request for the release of Leah Sharibu, Grace Taku and other Nigerians incarcerated under the custody of Boko Haram.
This followed a call from Taku, a labor aide kidnapped for an NGO – Action for Hunger – allegedly abducted with his five colleagues by terrorists in Damasak, Borno State.
CAN's president, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, said in a statement in Abuja that President Muhammadu Buhari may lose confidence in Nigerians for failing in his fundamental duty to protect the lives and property of the people.
He said: "We have heard the quick response from the federal government to Save-Our-Soul's cry of thanks and we join with her in calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies, especially the Security Department of Save-Our-Soul. the state, to protect it. freedom and Leah Sharibu's freedom.
"Grace Taku shouted on behalf of other hostages, like Amuta and Pastor Moses Oyeleke, before it was too late.

"We urge the federal government to accelerate measures to release captives, as in the case of Dapchi girls, with the exception of Leah Sharibu.
"We firmly believe that Leah Sharibu is still alive, greeted and warm and that she will, and that others should be released from captivity. It's enough to talk to the threat of security problems in the country.
"We call for a total overhaul of the country's security apparatus; We also asked developed countries to help Nigeria meet these challenges before the country becomes unbearable.

"It is no exaggeration to say that Nigeria's roads are dangerous, as kidnappers, terrorists, shepherds and bandits operate with impunity.
"How is it that these six aid workers were kidnapped and taken into the den of the captives without the knowledge of the security agencies? What has become of their collection of information? Are we sure there are no saboteurs among our security agencies? Is there anything that the government and security agencies are doing to stop this threat that we do not know about to avoid the negative effects of notorious people making them take the law?
"We are calling on well-meaning individuals and agencies to join CAN to implore our government and security agencies to get out of bed before it's too late."
"Our prayer is that the great God will come to the aid of this country. He will release all captives and comfort all those bereaved by the killings in the country. "
