Kadeisha Buchanan scored the only goal at the end of the first half and Canada held on to defeat Cameroon at the Women's World Cup Monday night.
Buchanan conceded a corner and his head bounced back into the net. All eyes were on teammate Christine Sinclair, who has four goals to become the best international scorer in the sport.
Sinclair has 181 goals, lagging behind former American striker Abby Wambach, who scored 184 goals in international competition to set the record for men and women.
The Canadian cap's free kick was blocked and eliminated in the 51st minute and she had another good opportunity in the final minutes. She had scored in the opening match of each of her previous four World Cup appearances.
Cameroon was a surprise at the 2015 World Cup coming out of the group stage before losing to China in the round of 16.
