SEATTLE

Washington State Health officials warn residents of the presence of a Canadian who has traveled to the Seattle area and who has been diagnosed with measles.

Health officials in King County said that the BC Canadian had traveled to the Seattle area at the end of April.

Before arriving in King County, he stayed in Japan and New York, where measles outbreaks are currently occurring. Officials said the case was not related to a recent outbreak in Clark County, Washington State.

While the man was infected, he visited several Seattle sites, including popular tourist attractions and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Officials warn that anyone who is not immune to vaccination or previous infection is at risk.

Measles is a very contagious disease.
