SEATTLE – Washington State Health officials have warned residents against a Canadian who has traveled to the Seattle area and who has been diagnosed with measles.
Health officials in King County said that the BC Canadian had traveled to the Seattle area at the end of April and that he had since been cured of his illness.
Before arriving in King County, he stayed in Japan and New York, where measles outbreaks are currently occurring. According to officials, this case is unrelated to an epidemic that has just ended in Clark County, Washington.
While the man was infected, he visited several Seattle sites, including popular tourist attractions and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Officials warn that anyone who does not have immunity through vaccination or previous infection is at risk.
Measles is a very contagious disease.
