Canadian Ultramarathoner Sets World Treadmill Record in 12 Hours

Proctor ran 100 miles (160 kilometers) in 12 hours 32 minutes and 26 seconds

Alberta's ultra-marathon runner Dave Proctor set a world record for the longest running treadmill race in 12 hours.

The 38-year-old from Okotoks, Alberta traveled 153.8 kilometers on a stationary treadmill at a convention center during the Calgary Marathon Expo.

The previous record, according to Guinness World Records, was 147.3 km from Australian Matthew Eckford on May 11, 2018.

Proctor ran 100 miles (160 kilometers) in 12 hours 32 minutes and 26 seconds before stopping on Saturday. Guinness does not quote a world record for the fastest 100-mile treadmill.

Proctor attempted a speed record across Canada in 2018.

Her goal was to race from Victoria to St. John's, NL, in 66 days, which would have beaten the 1991 record set at 72 days and 10 hours by Al Howie.

Proctor canceled his attempt just east of Winnipeg, a month after his start, because of a herniated disc on his back.
