On Tuesday, Russian media reports showed anti-ship ball missiles moving from Sevastopol into the Kerch Strait. For more than four years, Russia has supported separatists in a conflict in eastern Ukraine that has killed more than 10,300 people.
Tensions also intensified in the Azov Sea, with both parties mutually arresting each other. But Sunday's incident marked the first time that Russia was openly attacking Ukrainian forces.
