Case against Air Chief of Staff Vice Air Marshal Frank Hanson for alleged contempt has been adjourned

A contempt case against Air Chief of Staff Vice Air Marshal Frank Hanson in the Accra High Court has been adjourned to October 13.

The judge made the decision after the accused’s lawyer filed a written request for more time with the court.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, the applicant’s lawyer, Emmanuel Bright Atokoh, alleged that the senior military officer flouted an earlier ruling, hence their contempt action.

“Basically, we’re in court on a motion for contempt of jail for the Air Chief of Staff for flouting court rulings. Unfortunately, the case was adjourned because the author’s attorney, as well, Air Vice-Marshal Hanson wrote a letter to the court requesting an adjournment, ”the attorney said.

He further alleged that senior army officers used soldiers and ground guards to terrorize some residents of the area.

The lawyer, Emmanuel Bright Atokoh, said: “An injunction has been placed on a plot of land in Tsado against Vice Air Marshal Hanson. Contrary to court orders, he entered the field with soldiers and ground guards to brutalize and shoot residents. This is why we are back in court.

The alleged owner of the land, Adolf Tetteh, also accused the senior army officer of using soldiers to destroy his property and threaten his workers.

Speaking at a press conference on his behalf, Nii Addokwei Tetteh called on the Minister of Defense and the military high command to call Vice Air Marshal Hanson to order.

Air Force Chief of Staff Vice Air Marshal Frank Hanson, however, declined to comment on the matter when contacted.
