Over the millennia, a new generation is maturing.
At age five, North West, the famous daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, captivated the digital world with its intergenerational appeal. Without her own Instagram or YouTube public channel, she is too young to fully understand what a digital footprint is. And yet, his is already very popular.
We've seen North West grow on Instagram and "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and in magazines – here she poses for her first solo cover. Her distinctive fashion sense disguises her age and, lately, her eyes wear makeup.
The West, whether she knows it or not, is at the forefront of a highly connected generation, engaged in fashion and beauty and endowed with an individualistic style. Called Alpha, meaning a new beginning, this age group is one of a kind.
And combined with Generation Z, their slightly older counterparts, their numbers are high. According to the US Census Bureau, by 2025, people aged 17 and under will represent 43% of the US population. They are already major consumers of cosmetics: according to NPD, 69% of the members of Gen Zers use colored cosmetics and 68% follow a skin care regime.
With such numbers, Alphas and Generation Z should have a sociocultural and economic impact equal to that of their parents or their older siblings, the Millennials.
