CBS has suspended its search for a new CEO and has extended the contract of its interim chief, Joe Ianniello, for an additional six months, while the most-watched US television channel is trying to replace the former president The Moonves.
Mr Moonves left the company in September as a result of mbadive allegations of badual misconduct. Since then, CBS has been trying to find a replacement and Mr. Ianniello, Mr. Moonves' high-ranking lieutenant, has intervened.
In a statement, the CBS Board congratulated Mr. Ianniello for his "outstanding leadership in this unprecedented transition period" and his "commitment to a culture change".
"We are very pleased to recognize Joe's talents and efforts with this expansion," said the board.
Mr Ianniello is expected to stay until the end of this year.
