A joint delegation from the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD) and the National Election Observers Coalition (CODEO) arrived in Abuja for Residential Elections and at the National Assembly.

In Nigeria, the delegation will observe elections in some polling stations and will also support the Youth Initiative for Promotion, Growth and Progress (YIAGA Africa), a Nigerian civil society organization.

Over the last two years, CDD-Ghana and YIAGA Africa have exchanged lessons, experiences and best practices in the implementation of PVT.

CDD-Ghana believes that election observation in other countries of the subregion, and even on the mainland, offers citizen observation groups and organizations of society Civilian opportunity to learn the best practices and new ways to improve and promote electoral integrity.

The six-member delegation includes Albert Arhin, CODEO national coordinator; John Larvie, CODEO Advisory Board Member; Dr. Franklin Oduro, Deputy Executive Director of CDD-Ghana; Rhoda Osei-Afful, head of the elections team at CDD-Ghana; Newton Norviewu and Courage Asare, members of the CDD-Ghana election team.

The Center wishes the people of Nigeria peaceful, free and credible elections on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

The Center intends to share lessons learned from election observation with electoral stakeholders in Ghana when the delegation returns.
