Celltel Networks, Roberta Annan Consulting (RAC), and the Chinese Government's International Cooperation Corporation (CEIEC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the implementation of Ghana's "Smart Cities" project, with 300 millions of dollars, under the ArisCel brand.
Under the MoU, Ghanaian Celltel Networks, the company, is the concept designer, RAC acts as transaction advisor for CEIEC, while CEIEC joins a consortium of expert companies to complete the project.
The three companies will soon enter into a global agreement with the other project partners, to be financed by a consortium of private investment banks and sellers.
Ghana's Smart Cities Project was designed to provide an affordable Wi-Fi network nationwide, in collaboration with local government institutions and other relevant and strategic government agencies.
Before the signature of the MoU, the RAC and the CEIEC, Celtell Networks and its initial foreign partners, including Sylversys Consulting International, a Cisco representative, and Aristotle Incorporated, a US-based company, and Hughes Corporation, have been designing the project for years.
Aristotle, for example, last year presented a detailed presentation of the project to a Ghanaian delegation in the United States.
