The President spoke at the 108th Session of the International Labor Conference, which also commemorates the ILO's centennial celebration on Monday, June 10, 2019, when he made the announcement.

In his remarks, the president said his government is committed to a new social contract that promotes social dialogue in economic management and public policies.

This new social contract, he said, also aims to "ensure our workers and our enterprises that they are true partners in the development of the government, and their ideas are essential in the management and development model. economic development of my Government ".

"Recognizing the seriousness of unemployment in Ghana when he took office, we put in place bold, innovative and urgent measures to improve the situation. We turned our backs on the old economy, which was based on the production and export of raw materials, and we set out to build a value-added industrialized economy, supported by increased agricultural productivity. Nana Akufo-Addo pointed out that it was the sure way to create thousands of decent and well-paid jobs for the mbades of Ghanaians, and to lift them out of poverty.

To this end, the first task, said the president, was to take the Ghanaian economy out of the slump and create a climate conducive to job creation by entrepreneurs.

"We have had modest successes in this regard with the Ghanaian economy, which, according to the IMF, is expected to experience the fastest growth in the world this year. We are now the largest recipient of foreign direct investment in West Africa. Some of the world's largest companies have moved to Ghana and we have recently become the largest gold producer in Africa, "he added.

In addition, Nana Akufo-Addo said her government had launched the "Plant to Create Food and Jobs" program, which provides incentives and increases the income of a million farmers.

The president told the conference that his government had begun to address the serious neglect of vocational training by modernizing and strengthening technical and technical education and training institutions (TVET).

"We are also adapting the curriculum of skills development institutions and work-based learning to current industrial needs, both at the enterprise level and in the labor market."
