Buyers in the country report that the records of their local target have decreased.
The question seems to affect stores across the country, including in twin cities.
In a Twitter message, Target said: "We are aware of a system problem in the store and we are working as fast as possible to solve this problem, thank you for your patience!"
Consumers have opted for social media, blackouts have resulted in a build-up of lines in the stores and some have even completely abandoned their purchases.
Others were lucky enough to charge for their items after several attempts at registration.
The hashtag #targetdown was the number one trend topic on Twitter early Saturday afternoon.
