Former President of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei
Former President of the Ghana Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei, traveled to Kabul, the national capital of Afghanistan, to start working as Commissioner for International Elections in that country.
She went to Afghanistan on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
The United Nations appointed it Commissioner of International Elections in this part of the world.
Ms. Osei joins a team of other UN-appointed election experts from around the world to provide technical support, capacity building and advice on best practices in elections the Electoral Commission and the Independent Electoral Commission to carry out a peaceful democratic process. and credible elections as Afghanistan prepares to hold presidential elections in September 2019.
Ms. Osei is a lawyer who has served as EC chief in Ghana since 2015 until her dismissal in June 2018 for financial malfeasance, an allegation she denied.
She became the first woman to hold the post of Ghana's boss. Prior to her appointment to this position, she was Chair of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE).
