Chelsea advance late for new Paul Pogba Ilaix Moriba of Barcelona

Chelsea tries to beat Manchester City and Juventus in the signing of Barcelona's 16-year-old star Ilaix Moriba.

According to the Spanish sports newspaper, the Blues have offered a superior contract to the talented midfielder called "new Paul Pogba".

The Barca still hopes to retain Moriba, but they face tremendous competition to attach to a new agreement arousing the interest of England and Italy.

sport says that the player's agent met with Chelsea last week and that the discussions went well after director Marina Granovskaia got permission to do everything to take the boy to Stamford Bridge.

City had been the favorite to land Moriba before the last move of Chelsea, while Juve is also in the race after watching his progress.

Barcelona would have made a "huge effort" in proposing to keep Moriba at Camp Nou after advancing in the club's La Masia academy.

The central midfielder, who is only 16 on Saturday, is expected to make a decision on his future on Monday, but that has now been delayed after Chelsea's bid.
