Chelsea appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the transfer ban pronounced by FIFA.
The world governing body of the game sanctioned the transfer of young foreign players from Chelsea in February.
"The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered an appeal by Chelsea Football Club Ltd. (CFC) against the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA)," read a statement.
The ban prohibits Chelsea from recruiting players during the transfer periods of the summer of 2019 and of January 2020.
The Europa League champions seized the CAS after FIFA dismissed their appeal.
"The appeal is against the decision of the FIFA Appeals Committee of 11 April 2019, in which the CFC has been found responsible for violations of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players and prohibits new players, nationally and internationally, to exercise two periods of registration, "reads in the CAS statement.
