Former Lampard teammate for England and Chelsea, Ashley Cole, traveled to Japan on Wednesday to join the team at her pre-training camp.

But the 38-year-old should only play the role of ambbadador and commercial for the Blues.

Cole, whom Lampard signed as a player while he was head of Derby last season, still wears his coach badge.

And he's not yet on the list of former Chelsea players, like Jody Morris, No. 2 Lampard.

Lampard said: "In the current state of things, there will be more additions. I am very happy with what I have.

"I want a group that brings something to the table. I have my role as a manager.

"But I fully trust Jody Morris, Joe Edwards, Chris Jones and Eddie Newton in their various roles.

"If, along the way, people arrive, whether they have a connection with Chelsea or not, I will examine that. Right now, we are working hard and we know where we are going.

"We believe in ourselves. You must have a little ego in it. It's a big job. This is Chelsea's job. I like the Chelsea link, but it's not the ideal solution. "

Striker Tammy Abraham remains the main doubt for Friday's friendly against Kawasaki Frontale in Yokohama after his fall.

The 21-year-old missed training at the NHK Spring Mitsuzawa stadium this Wednesday, in front of 5,000 spectators.

It should be for the final match of next Tuesday's tour against Barcelona in Saitama.

Chelsea had a rather slow pre-season start as the Bohemians drew 1-1 last week.

They then went into the game by scoring four unanswered goals in front of St Patrick's Athletic.

The upcoming matches against Kawasaki Frontale and Barcelona will be followed by a clash with Reading.

Chelsea will then travel to Austria and Germany to face Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively before the kickoff of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
