CHELSEA appealed the FIFA transfer ban.
But the Blues have not asked that the punishment be suspended this summer.
The Stamford Bridge club had until last Friday to appeal the Sports Arbitration Tribunal against Fifa's decision to forbid them signing for the next two windows.
Chelsea was suspended in February after being convicted of 29 offenses under the Juvenile Transfer Regulations, the main case being that of former offensive midfielder Bertrand Traore.
The Blues call to FIFA was rejected last month. The club decided to offer new offers to David Luiz and Olivier Giroud, both in contract, which allowed them to prepare for the reality of the summer without signing a contract.
But the Lausanne-based court has now confirmed that it has received official notice of Chelsea's appeal.
That does not mean however that the West London club will be allowed to spend the money that it is expected to receive from Real Madrid for the Belgian superstar Eden Hazard.
This morning, a spokeswoman for the SAE told Sun Sport: "In order for a disputed decision to be suspended during the CAS process, a specific request to that effect must be made.
"At the time of writing this article, no claim has been filed in the Chelsea / FIFA case. As a result, FIFA's decision remains in effect. "
The process is likely to take months, as the Court explains, "Generally speaking, the CAS arbitration proceedings involve an exchange of written submissions between the parties while a panel CAS referees are called to hear the call.
GOING UNTIL NOVEMBER
"Once the panel has been formally constituted, it issues procedural instructions, including the holding of a hearing.
"After the hearing, if necessary (a CAS panel may also render a decision based solely on the written submissions of the parties), the panel shall deliberate and render its decision in the form of an arbitral award.
"It is not possible to say at this point when the arbitral award will be made."
Chelsea was supposed to ask the court to intervene and order the lifting of the ban pending the outcome of the case, citing precedents for Real Madrid and Barcelona.
But Chelsea knew that Atletico Madrid had served the second part of its two bans starting in the summer of 2017, while the case was pending judgment, the TUS having finally ruled against the Spanish.
And there was no guarantee that the CAS would agree to suspend the ban before the hearing of the case, probably in November at the earliest.
Chelsea has agreed to let Hazard join Real and is awaiting the departure of his manager Mauricio Sarri for Juventus, both in the coming days.
The selection of the January winger, Christian Pulisic, may be recorded by Chelsea for next season, as he is a blues player, although he was loaned to Dortmund.
But Gonzalo Higuain does not want to stay on loan while it is thought that Chelsea is asking Fifa's advice on midfielder Matteo Kovacic's status.
