Chelsea will not sign Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford this afternoon.
The 26-year-old was once again in excellent form for the Hornets and, according to The Mirror, the Blues were keen to make a potential bid within one day for French transfers.
However, sources confirmed football.londres that Doucoure will not go anywhere during this window while Watford wanted to keep his key man.
Doucoure had a tough start to life in Watford when he came in 2016, fighting for playing time under the then boss, Walter Mazzarri, before he managed to break into the team.
However, the central midfielder has been a key member of the Javi Gracia team, scoring three goals and adding five Premier League aides so far this season.
Chelsea was not the only club to keep a close eye on Doucoure, PSG having been closely linked to the midfielder who contracted until 2023 at Vicarage Road.
However, Watford did well to keep the French, while Ligue 1 players turned to Idrissa Gueye of Everton.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wanted to bring another midfielder to replace Cesc Fabregas this winter, with Leandro Paredes as the number one target.
However, Argentina has headed for PSG and the Blues now seem ready to miss out on other people before the window closes at 11pm tonight.
